Munich, 19 October 2026 – Prestigious triumph for XPENG: As the best “Newcomer E-Mobility,” the Chinese high-tech automotive brand secures this year’s “Best in Class” award. The award, presented by trade magazine “Electricar” and the Institute Neue Mobilität, recognises the best brands and models in the field of electromobility every year. The award was presented as part of the e4-Testival on the sidelines of the ADAC e-competition at the Hockenheimring.
As “Newcomer of E-Mobility,” XPENG has prevailed against four other brands in the special category of the same name: The high-tech company XPENG, founded in Guangzhou, China, in 2014, has been selling battery-electric vehicles in Germany for just over two years. As part of a major product offensive, the number of models offered in this country has doubled from three to six within a year – and now ranges from a compact SUV coupé to a seven-seat MPV.
“XPENG is dispelling common prejudices: Our electric vehicles combine a range of up to 615 kilometres with ultra-short charging times of up to 10 minutes. Added to this is advanced technology that increases comfort and effectively supports and relieves the driver in everyday use. I am delighted that the high-calibre jury of the Best Class Awards recognises this and has chosen us as the best newcomer in e-mobility,” explains Markus Schrick, Managing Director of XPENG sales region Central Europe. “Cooperation with our retail partners also plays an important role: as local points of contact, they increase awareness, presence and acceptance of the brand.”
All fully electric XPENG models impress with extensive standard equipment, advanced AI-supported technologies and everyday driving ranges. Thanks to charging capacities of up to 542 kW (XPENG X9), charging stops take only a few minutes. Customers can choose between rear-wheel and all-wheel drive in various power levels and with different battery capacities.
At the same time, the company is also driving development beyond the road – and is taking a global pioneering role in human robotics and flying mobility solutions. XPENG is also the first car manufacturer in China to have started mass production of a robotaxi based on a fully self-developed full-stack technology platform, with the first series-produced robotaxi already on the road. The new robotaxi is based on the XPENG GX and meets the requirements for Level 4 autonomous driving.
At the heart of all products is the Turing AI Chip developed by XPENG itself, which delivers computing power of up to 750 tera operations per second (TOPS).
The “Best in Class” award was presented for the third time in 2026 by trade magazine “Electricar” in cooperation with the Institute Neue Mobilität. In nine categories, the best electric cars of the year were selected by vehicle class – from micro/small cars to the upper class – or by area of use (city, family, fleet and design). There are also special categories such as the best global brand and the best newcomer in electromobility.
This year, almost 100 models and brands were nominated and evaluated and selected in a multi-stage process. The winners were announced on 16 October 2026 as part of the e4-Testival on the sidelines of the ADAC e-competition at the Hockenheimring. Further information at best-in-class-award.de
