Samstagern, 15. Oktober 2026 – Plenty of space, exceptional comfort and ultra-fast charging: the seven-seat XPENG X9 (Combined energy consumption: 20.2–20.8 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; energy efficiency class: B – combined figures according to WLTP, subject to final certification) shines in the test by “Auto Bild” magazine and receives a score of 1.6 – an outstanding result. The all-electric MPV is said to be “like a temple of luxury on four wheels,” according to the conclusion of the renowned trade magazine. In addition, XPENG achieves the best charging performance ever measured for an electric vehicle.

“All our XPENG models impress not only on paper, but also in everyday use. Our all-electric MPV X9 is no exception, as Auto Bild found in its test. I am delighted by this impressive report, the new charging record and the test score of 1.6 – an outstanding result,” explains Markus Schrick, Managing Director of XPENG sales region Central Europe. “The magazine thus confirms the impressions of other independent media outlets that have tested the XPENG X9. Space, comfort, drivetrain and charging performance at an attractive price-performance ratio are repeatedly highlighted in praise. The prestigious title of ‘German Luxury Car of the Year’, which the X9 was recently awarded, is also proof of this.”

Trade magazine Auto Bild praises generous space and high comfort

The experts at Auto Bild particularly praise the exceptional seating comfort in the luxury van’s standard 2-2-3 configuration: “Seven passengers can hardly sit more comfortably across three rows. Electric adjustment in every form, extensive massage for the four seats in the first and second rows, plus a reclining function in row two,” the test report states. The upholstery and workmanship of the Nappa leather seats, which are on a par with established brands such as VW and Mercedes, as well as the easy access to the third row, are also highlighted in praise.

The easy loading of the boot thanks to air suspension and the resulting lowering of the body, the flush load floor when the rear bench is folded down, and the very attentive voice assistant also receive positive mention.

High agility, powerful drivetrain and charging record

Despite its length of just under 5.32 metres, the XPENG X9 is extremely agile and manoeuvrable: “Thanks to the standard rear-axle steering (plus/minus five degrees, turning circle 10.8 metres), the steering wheel guides the bulky van smoothly and precisely through the city,” says the magazine.

The tested XPENG X9 Long Range FWD also impresses with brisk acceleration thanks to its 235 kW/320 hp electric drivetrain and an impressive charging performance, culminating in a new “Auto Bild” record: “In the laboratory test at Shell, the X9 charges its 100 kWh battery from 0 to 100 (!) percent in just under 30 minutes with up to 520 kW using 800-volt architecture. No other electric vehicle has managed that yet,” the testers conclude.

The full test was published in “Auto Bild” issue 41/2026, which appeared on 8 October 2026.
