Paris/Munich, 12 October 2026 – At the Paris Motor Show (until 18 October 2026), XPENG is presenting its new flagship SUV: the XPENG G9L (combined energy consumption 21.1-22.5 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; energy efficiency category: C, values subject to final WLTP homologation), which is making its first appearance before the European public not far from the Seine, takes comfort to a new level.
Up to seven occupants enjoy generous space and exceptional comfort. Whether for family life, business or outdoor adventures, with its sporty-elegant design, advanced technology and numerous amenities, the 5.12-metre flagship SUV is ideally suited to a wide range of needs and uses. Customers in continental Europe can choose between six and seven seats in three rows.
The new XPENG G9L will be launched in 64 countries and regions worldwide, with the first models to be delivered to customers in December 2026. European models will be manufactured by Magna in Graz, Austria, where the XPENG G6 (energy consumption 16.8 - 18.4 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; energy efficiency category: B/C – combined values according to WLTP), G9 (energy consumption 19.4 - 21.3 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; energy efficiency category: C – combined values according to WLTP) and P7+ (energy consumption 15.2 - 17.4 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; energy efficiency category: B/C – combined values according to WLTP) are already rolling off the production line.
5.12 metres long, just under two metres wide and 1.78 metres high: the XPENG G9L brings a new size and powerful proportions to the SUV family of the high-tech brand.
One of the visual hallmarks is the slim light signature extending across the full width of the vehicle at the front and rear. Various details ensure a distinctive welcome: depending on the equipment level, the DLP pixel headlights can project dynamic graphics and driving information onto the road ahead of the vehicle – both as a greeting and while driving. Passengers in the second row are also welcomed with a special light graphic.
Electronically opening doors and electrically deployable side steps make getting in and out easier. This means occupants can enter the vehicle with ease despite ground clearance of up to 216 millimetres. Typical of XPENG is the electrically opening tailgate: it provides access to a boot with a VDA-standard capacity of 367 litres (including storage compartment under the load floor), which increases to up to 1,330 litres by folding down the third row of seats (XPENG G9L AWD Performance Ultra 6-seater). There is also a 65-litre frunk under the bonnet. And if that is not enough, it can tow up to 2.0 tonnes.
Four paint finishes offer scope for personalisation: Arctic White, Waving Green, Mirror Gray and Diamond Black.
With a wheelbase of 3.10 metres, occupants in all three rows benefit from exceptional comfort and maximum head and legroom. Depending on personal preference and requirements, customers can choose between two interior colours – Meteorite Black and Tangerine – as well as six individual seats or seven seats in a 2:3:2 configuration.
The electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated Nappa leather front seats with massage function feature a world first: AI-controlled active adaptive seating technology (“Active Adaptive Seating”). Using advanced sensor technology, it adapts the seats to the body shapes of the occupants, guaranteeing perfect comfort. The adaptive seat bolsters automatically improve lateral support in corners. Lumbar support and thigh support provide additional comfort.
The second row also features Nappa leather seats, which are likewise heated, ventilated and equipped with a ten-point massage function. The individual seats in the six-seat configuration also have armrests. The XPENG G9L is completed by two heated and ventilated seats in the third row, which can be folded down electrically.
Occupants enjoy an excellent noise level in all seats: in addition to active suppression of driving noise, the XPENG G9L benefits from comprehensive sound insulation throughout the cabin, high-performance acoustic glass and low-noise Michelin tyres. Electric sunshades protect against sunlight and prying eyes.
Additional comfort is provided by a 12.5-litre two-zone cooling compartment in the centre console, three-zone automatic climate control and an intelligent air purification system with PM2.5-standard particle filtration.
Entertainment is provided by a 21.4-inch 3K entertainment display in the rear, which lowers from the vehicle roof, and a sound system with 23 speakers. A specially designed area for children in the cabin features materials selected with younger passengers in mind.
The cockpit is fully connected, as is typical of XPENG: at its centre is a 17.3-inch touchscreen that controls infotainment and navigation. As the first automotive manufacturer in the Asia-Pacific region, XPENG integrates Google Maps here: the XPENG G9L is the second model after the compact SUV coupé L03 (combined energy consumption 15.3 - 18.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions 0 g/km; energy efficiency category: B/C, combined values according to WLTP, subject to final homologation) to feature the Google Maps SDK. It combines up-to-date map data and real-time traffic information with intelligent charging planning – all in the typical XPENG user interface.
Behind the steering wheel of the G9L is an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The head-up display, also standard, uses augmented reality to project the most important information into the driver’s natural field of vision – keeping their eyes on the road.
The technical basis of the smart XOS 6.0 cockpit is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and powerful processors. They ensure fast and smooth data processing and razor-sharp display.
The “Hey XPENG” voice assistant enables control by voice command, with six zones ensuring clear understanding and easy interaction. Thanks to regular over-the-air updates, the software is updated remotely, so the vehicle keeps getting better even after delivery.
The XPENG G9L is based on an 800-volt architecture and impresses with an excellent charging performance of 540 kW, which reduces charging time to under twelve minutes (10-80 percent).
- XPENG G9L RWD Long Range Ultra (7-seater): with 110-kWh NCM battery, 270 kW/367 hp rear-wheel drive and up to 591 kilometres of range (WLTP combined)
- XPENG G9L AWD Performance Ultra (6-seater): with 110-kWh NCM battery, 430 kW/585 hp all-wheel drive and up to 553 kilometres of range (WLTP combined)
- XPENG G9L AWD Performance Ultra (7-seater): with 110-kWh NCM battery, 430 kW/585 hp all-wheel drive and up to 553 kilometres of range (WLTP combined)
With the two motors on the front and rear axles, which develop 695 Nm of torque, the XPENG G9L AWD Performance accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 200 km/h in all drivetrain variants. The braking distance from 100 to 0 km/h is 35.1 metres – a top figure.
The Vehicle-to-Load function (V2L) also turns the XPENG G9L into a rolling power bank: external devices such as e-bikes and the like can be supplied with up to 6 kW of power.
The XPENG G9L comes with a double wishbone front axle and a multi-link rear axle. The adaptive suspension system detects road irregularities in advance and, together with the standard two-chamber air suspension, adjusts damping in real time to road conditions. Whether for short or long journeys, maximum comfort is guaranteed at all times.
Ground clearance can also be adjusted using the air suspension, which – depending on requirements – makes entry and loading easier or enables off-road driving. Ground clearance can be increased to up to 216 millimetres, and wading depth is designed for up to 700 millimetres.
Rear-wheel steering enables a turning circle of eleven metres. This means the large flagship SUV can be manoeuvred through city traffic and into parking spaces just as safely and easily. Modern features such as automatic parking and unparking assistance, the 360-degree camera system, reversing assistant and transparent chassis support the driver. The intelligent parking assistant, which can also be conveniently controlled via the smartphone app, steers the vehicle into parking spaces both perpendicular and parallel to the road.
At market launch, the XPENG G9L will be offered in this country exclusively in the top-spec “Ultra” version. The AI-defined next-generation SUV flagship brings the intelligent innovations of XPENG’s “Physical AI” mobility ecosystem to the road. The new model is based on XPENG’s latest intelligent computing platform and features the company’s in-house developed Turing AI Chips, which deliver leading effective AI computing power.
These chips form the foundation for the Next Generation Pilot (NGP), which is based on the Vision-Language-Action system (VLA 2.0) and, subject to local legislation and regulatory approval, is expected to enable partially automated driving at Level 2++ via OTA update from 2027.
With powerful processors and radar sensors and cameras distributed around the vehicle, the next-generation platform enables improved perception and faster data processing of hazards and obstacles – in Europe too, and especially there. It recognises local traffic signs and traffic rules, including right-of-way rules and the priority rules for pedestrians and cyclists. Even complex traffic and road conditions are mastered with confidence thanks to the advanced technology: for example, the XPENG G9L helps with smooth lane changes, safe cruising and effortless parking.
In developing the XPENG G9L, the company took into account the strict requirements of independent testing and assessment organisations such as EuroNCAP, ANCAP, C-NCAP and CIASI. The flagship SUV combines passive safety systems with advanced assistance systems that support the driver in everyday use.
In addition to a safety body structure and ten airbags, the XPENG G9L offers a broad arsenal of assistance systems – from standard features such as emergency braking and lane-change assist to stability control in the event of tyre damage or an assistant that intervenes if the driver is no longer responsive and able to react.
In a global testing programme, the XPENG G9L had to prove itself over three years in 26 countries and across around 6.74 million test kilometres. In addition, the vehicle completed 192 crash tests and more than 110 different test procedures, including validations for left- and right-hand drive versions.
The battery is protected by four layers of underbody protection and the EIS battery safety chip developed by XPENG. Building on XPENG’s “Flying Car” technology, the G9L features an aviation-inspired safety redundancy architecture that includes four critical systems: braking, drive, communication and unlocking.
The new XPENG G9L comes with a seven-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year warranty on the high-voltage battery (up to 160,000 km). Visitors can explore the new XPENG G9L and XPENG’s “Physical AI” portfolio during the Paris Motor Show (until 18 October) in Hall 6, Stand A51.
