Dielsdorf, 07. August 2026 – The high-tech company XPENG has released another extensive over-the-air (OTA) update for its vehicles. With the software update to XOS 5.9.5, which has been rolled out worldwide in 64 markets, numerous new features are now available for XPENG models, further enhancing the driving experience.
The update covers various areas of the vehicle software and optimizes, among other things, the navigation and infotainment systems, the voice assistant, the Intelligent Cockpit, and charging management. In Germany, the update is being provided for the XPENG G6 models (combined energy consumption according to WLTP: 17.3-18.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A), XPENG G9 (combined energy consumption 18.4-20.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A), XPENG P7+ (combined energy consumption 15.2-17.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A) and XPENG X9 (combined energy consumption 20.0-20.8 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A, values subject to final WLTP homologation).
A split-screen mode is now available for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing smartphone apps to be used alongside native XPENG apps such as navigation or music. XDOCK now remains visible at all times, even when using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and provides quick access to climate control, volume settings and other important functions.
The voice assistant now supports natural follow-up conversations and can also be started without saying “Hey XPENG” as the voice command. The conversation ends with the voice command “Goodbye" or automatically after 20 seconds of inactivity. In addition, the ventilation, wireless smartphone charging, XGuard vehicle monitoring and child lock can now also be controlled via the voice assistant.
One of the key new features in the navigation system is the integration of Google search results. This makes it easier to find addresses or points of interest. The sound settings of the in-car audio system can now be defined individually, and additional information such as song title, artist and station is displayed consistently in the media player and in the widget.
The XPILOT assistance systems have also been further developed. Among other things, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist have been optimized. The adaptive cornering assistant now has manual control. Drivers can activate or deactivate automatic speed adjustment before corners and thus tailor the driving behavior to their preferences. If adaptive cruise control is activated, the vehicle accelerates more quickly back to the set speed after manual lane changes.
The intelligent high-beam assistant now switches between high beam and low beam even faster. The automatic parking assistant displays parking instructions in real time on the information display after a suitable parking space has been selected.
In charging management, the OTA update improves charging compatibility with Tesla Superchargers of types V3 and V4. Charging performance and the thermal management of the high-voltage battery in cold temperatures have also been optimized. The display of battery capacity after charging and the calculation of remaining range are even more precise, and the battery status information has been further optimized. Consumption statistics have been expanded and discrepancies between the consumption of the last trip and the statistics for the last 100 kilometers driven have been resolved.
New on board is the “Quiet Remote Climate Mode”. This enables quieter operation of the climate control system when preconditioning the cabin via the XPENG smartphone app. Quieter operation of the climate control system when the vehicle is stationary or moving at low speeds provides greater comfort. In addition, the rear window wiper interval now automatically adjusts to the speed of the front wiper. If a key is detected in the trunk when the tailgate is being closed, the tailgate automatically opens again and notifies the user.
The software update reduces vehicle rollback on hill starts. Safety is also further enhanced by headlights that remain permanently activated. In the event of serious accidents, an emergency call is automatically placed; in emergencies caused by battery issues, the locations of the door release handles are displayed. If the vehicle needs to be towed, there is also an improved towing guide with clearer instructions.
With regular OTA updates, XPENG continuously develops its vehicles and provides customers with new features, optimizations and safety improvements quickly and conveniently.
