Dielsdorf, 31 July 2026 – The XPENG G6 (power consumption 16.8 - 18.4 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; energy efficiency category: B/C – combined values according to WLTP) impresses not only on paper with ultra-short charging times – in everyday use, the charging stop is barely long enough for a coffee. As part of the “XPENG Charging Challenge”, the Chinese high-tech automotive brand has now put this to the test.

The XPENG G6 charges faster than any other model in its class. Built on an 800-volt architecture, the SUV coupé sets benchmarks with charging power of up to 451 kW. The 5C LFP high-voltage battery charges from ten to 80 percent in twelve minutes – a top figure in this vehicle class. But does this work only under laboratory conditions, or also at publicly accessible charging stations in Switzerland?

XPENG Switzerland has now investigated this question as part of the “XPENG Charging Challenge”. “As an engineer, I am naturally used to questioning things. We want to try everything ourselves before we believe it. Are charging times possible in everyday life that are not even half as long as the Tagesschau at 19.30?,” explains Massimo Redigolo, Head of Aftersales at XPENG in Switzerland.

In its search for a suitable charging station, XPENG found what it was looking for at AGROLA AG, which offers two publicly accessible 600-kW charging points in Lyssach and Konolfingen for fully electric trucks or high-performance electric passenger cars. Drive up, plug in, authenticate with the charging card – and off it went: with charging peaks of more than 410 kW, energy flowed swiftly into the battery of the tested XPENG G6 AWD Performance. There was just enough time for coffee and snacks at the Agrola TopShop, but not for a short shopping trip to the neighboring Landi market. The SUV coupé was even faster than expected: the stopwatch showed 11 minutes and 37 seconds when the 80 percent mark was reached. “Our charging promise holds true,” summarizes Andreas Laireiter, Technical Manager XPENG Switzerland, after the successful challenge test. “Under real-world conditions, the XPENG G6 charges from ten to 80 percent in just twelve minutes. This is what smart electric mobility looks like today.”

Test the XPENG G6 for yourself now

Available from CHF 43’600, the XPENG G6 combines the robust elements of an SUV with the sporty elegance of a coupé. The roofline sloping toward the rear not only contributes to the distinctive design, but also to the excellent aerodynamics. The drag coefficient is an outstanding 0.248. The “ducktail” rear spoiler also plays a part: it improves stability and road holding – and extends the vehicle by five millimeters.

At the heart of the nearly 4.76-meter-long SUV coupé is the brand’s signature 800-volt architecture, combined with the industry’s first 5C LFP high-voltage battery. The 80.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery dispenses with expensive and less sustainable materials such as cobalt, manganese and nickel, without having to accept any loss of performance. Thanks to charging power of up to 451 kW, the battery can be charged at suitable charging stations from 20 to 80 percent in just ten minutes – or from ten to 80 percent in twelve minutes.

The maximum range per battery charge is 525 kilometers (WLTP combined for XPENG G6 RWD Long Range). As an alternative to rear-wheel drive, customers can choose the XPENG G6 AWD Performance with all-wheel drive: the 218 kW/296 hp electric motor on the rear axle is joined by an additional electric unit at the front with 140 kW/190 hp.
