Dielsdorf, 20 March 2026 – More comfort, faster interaction, and an expanded app ecosystem: XPENG, a technology company focused on intelligent electric vehicles and physical AI, is releasing the next over-the-air update (OTA) with XOS 5.8.7. The software update for the SUV coupé XPENG G6 (electricity consumption 16.8 - 18.4 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; energy efficiency category: B/C – combined values according to WLTP) and the flagship SUV XPENG G9 (electricity consumption 19.4 - 21.3 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; energy efficiency category: C – combined values according to WLTP) includes numerous improvements to driving assistance and the smart cockpit. This underlines the company's software-defined approach to vehicle development.

Intuitive Driving Assistance for Everyday Use

With XOS 5.8.7, key driver assistance functions have been further optimized to provide an even more relaxed driving experience in everyday life. Improvements to adaptive cruise control (ACC) and lane centering control (LCC) reduce unnecessary delays, increase lane stability, and minimize steering corrections when driving straight. As a result, the system responds more intuitively to traffic situations, reliably maintains a safe distance and the position within the lane. If the driver is about to leave the lane, warnings are now issued more quickly and precisely—all measures to increase confidence and safety on every journey.

Enhanced Smart Cockpit Experience

The smart cockpit has also been comprehensively optimized: the infotainment system now responds faster, and the smartphone is integrated even more reliably via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Improved system stability and accelerated OTA installation via Wi-Fi also ensure a seamless update experience.

Additional app optimizations have been made specifically for Europe: the Disney+ app, for example, now offers more stable, uninterrupted playback, while KaraFun's karaoke without a microphone features improved audio quality, creating an immersive in-car entertainment experience.

Continuous Improvement Through Software

XPENG is consistently committed to a software-defined vehicle architecture that is continuously evolving. Regular OTA updates continually improve vehicle performance, intelligent driving functions, and the user experience—even after the vehicles have been delivered, based on real driving data and direct customer feedback. The development of XOS 5.8.7 was accompanied by extensive testing phases, involving around 200 European users in different environments.

OTA updates will continue to be provided for current models in the future, so customers will benefit from technological advancements on an ongoing basis.

Building the Next Generation of AI-Powered Mobility

In parallel with continuous software development, XPENG is advancing the expansion of its next-generation AI architecture. This includes, among other things, the Vision-Language-Action System (VLA 2.0), which is intended to enable future intelligent driving functions.

Upcoming vehicle platforms will be specifically designed to fully utilize these technologies and support even more powerful functions—especially in line with evolving regulatory frameworks worldwide. XPENG is thus pursuing a clear, dual-track innovation approach: the continuous improvement of existing vehicles as well as the development of the next generation of AI-powered mobility solutions.
