Munich, 19 December 2025 – With XPENG, drivers are always worry-free on the road – especially in winter: All models of the Chinese high-tech electric car brand come standard with a heat pump. This relieves the battery and reduces energy consumption – ensuring the high range XPENG models are known for, even at low outside temperatures. For the current model year, its efficiency has been further improved.

Warmth in winter, cooling in summer: heat pumps create a comfortable climate. Their operating principle is technically well-known and proven. The system is based on a closed circuit in which a refrigerant changes its state between liquid and gaseous. Heat is absorbed from the surroundings and evaporates, and an electrically driven compressor compresses the resulting gas. The heat gained is then transferred to the interior via a heat exchanger, the refrigerant liquefies, and the cycle begins again. When the interior needs to be cooled in summer, this process runs in reverse.

Heat pumps are especially useful in electric cars, which do not have the waste heat of a combustion engine. While the compressor does draw energy from the battery, it uses significantly less than a conventional electric heater or air conditioner. This results in average energy savings of up to 20 percent, which translates into correspondingly greater range or reduced losses.

“For the new model year, we have been able to further increase the efficiency of our heat pump – a smart example of the holistic approach XPENG takes in the ongoing development of its models. Combined with higher charging performance and thus ultra-short charging times, XPENG drivers need not fear long-distance journeys even in winter,” explains Jacco Drop, Head of Aftersales at XPENG Germany. “And the best part: with XPENG, all of this comes standard. While some electric cars do not offer a heat pump at all or only as an option, with us it is included as standard – regardless of the model.”

In addition to the heat pump, XPENG models for the 2025 model year are equipped with the X-HP3.0 thermal management system. It improves heat dissipation and supply to the high-voltage battery, ensuring the correct operating temperature at all times. The result is high real-world range and ultra-short charging times: The industry’s first 5C-LFP high-voltage battery, used in the new XPENG G6 (combined energy consumption 17.3-18.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A) and the new XPENG G9 (combined energy consumption 18.4-20.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A), charges from ten to eighty percent in just twelve minutes. Charging power is up to 451 kW (XPENG G6) or 525 kW (XPENG G9) – both best-in-class in their segment and industry.

Fully equipped to beat the winter blues

The typically extensive standard equipment of XPENG models further takes the fear out of winter: In addition to a multi-zone automatic climate control system and ambient lighting that creates a homely atmosphere, the SUV coupé XPENG G6 and its larger sibling G9 feature, among other things, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield.

The XPENG Smartphone App 3.0 also allows climate control to be started remotely – for example, directly from the breakfast table. For those who find this too much effort, it is possible to predefine the desired temperature for different times. In the morning, before heading to school or the office, the interior is automatically preheated. By the end of the workday, the cabin is pleasantly preconditioned.

The smart navigation, operated via the connected cockpit with digital instrument display and central touchscreen, gets XPENG drivers to their destination as quickly as possible. Traffic jams and slowdowns – for example, due to weather-related accidents – are detected and avoided. The also standard XPILOT assistance systems support the driver in everyday life and help to prevent accidents and hazards.
