Efficient and Fast: XPENG Wins ADAC 24h e-Competition at Hockenheimring

  • XPENG P7 secures overall and class victory in the final round
  • Electric sports sedan completes 216 laps and 972 kilometers with exceptional efficiency
  • A compelling demonstration of XPENG’s electric drivetrain performance

Dielsdorf, October 28, 2024 – A triumph for XPENG: The young Chinese automotive brand wins the fall edition of the 2024 ADAC 24h e-Competition at the Hockenheimring (October 26–27, 2024) – and does so in its very first participation. The XPENG P7 Long Range RWD (combined energy consumption: 16.8 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km; CO₂ class: A) completed the most laps and kilometers within the competition’s set time limit of 18 hours (including charging times), earning not only a class win but also overall victory.

Held as part of the e4 Testival, the ADAC 24h e-Competition endurance race (https://24ecompetition.com/) is a true test of endurance for electric vehicles. Divided into four classes based on battery capacity, production EVs go head-to-head. Success is not just about speed – it's about the perfect balance between driving performance and charging efficiency. The team that completes the most laps of the Grand Prix circuit within the allotted time emerges victorious.

This year’s winner: the XPENG P7, race number 19. Driven by electric mobility journalist Daniel Krenzer, XPENG Germany Head of Marketing Gordon Krug, and Head of PR Bernhard Voß, the electric sports sedan completed 216 laps around the Hockenheimring. With an average consumption of just 15.8 kWh per hour – equating to only 11% of the battery capacity – the result is a remarkable testament to its extraordinary efficiency.

A total of 972 kilometers were covered in 15 hours, 41 minutes, and 58 seconds of driving time. The race remained intense until the final lap: XPENG Germany’s team, with Gordon Krug at the wheel, overtook a direct competitor driving in the same lap just before the finish – likely thanks to a slightly higher reserve of electric power. This performance secured XPENG Germany not only victory in Class C (for EVs with high-voltage batteries up to a net 97 kWh capacity) but also first place overall – with the second-place team finishing just 6.8 seconds behind.

The ADAC 24h e-Competition is one of the most important comparison events for fully electric production vehicles. I congratulate Daniel Krenzer and my colleagues on this fantastic success. It was a great team effort, and ultimately, the better energy management strategy made the difference. The result proves how efficient and capable our XPENG models are. Drivers can trust our electric mobility expertise – on short drives and especially on long-distance trips, Markus Schrick, Managing Director of Xpeng Motors (Germany) GmbH.

About the e4 TestivalThe ADAC 24h e-Competition was held during this year’s e4 Testival on October 26–27, 2024. In addition to the endurance race for fully electric production models on the Grand Prix track, visitors at the Hockenheimring had the opportunity to experience and test electric mobility firsthand. A variety of EVs across different sizes and classes were available for test drives, and electric go-kart races were also part of the program.
